dramaturgy.

A good dramaturg supports the playwright in telling the best version of their story, whether that is one-on-one or in the rehearsal room. When I speak to playwrights of all experience-levels about their work, I want to know what is at the heart of their story. Every question and observation comes back to telling the story in the most economical way. I bring an outside eye to the conversation about the playwrights’ story with an expertise in giving feedback and next steps, honed over 15 years as an educator.

“Aliza is an astute and enthusiastic consultant. She reviewed an early version of my script, giving fantastic feedback that greatly informed my play’s development...She curated great questions for me. The fact that this piece was nominated for an award is definitely in part thanks to the dramaturgical work I did with Aliza.”
